Chocolate in Melbourne

Tucker on Tuesday

I haven’t had a chance yet to investigate Max Brenner, whatever or whoever that superslick marketing bomb is, but I will get onto that quick smart!

However, today I was in the city for a chocolate rendezvous at the revered house of Haigh, followed by an expedition to Richmond to stock up the chocolate pantry.

Haigh’s Chocolates is the pinnacle of chocolatey splendour and a heaven for chocaholics,. You will find Haigh’s Chocolates in the most elegant arcade in Melbourne, Block Arcade, at the fashion end of Collins Street.

Haigh is family owned and they have been tempting our taste buds with their scrumptious delicacies since 1915. That’s four generations of Chocolatiers.

How do you choose from chocolate hearts, hand-dipped champagne truffles, rocky road, dinner mints, peppermint tablets and bars of milk, dark, orange or mint chocolate?

Simple, I ended up with the delicious chocolate frogs.

Then I was off to the Richmond Chocolate Factory at 87 Church St., Richmond.

If anyone can remember the Ernest Hillier Chocolate Shop at the Regent Theatre (in the good old days) you can get both Hillier, and Newmans, chocolates at this factory in Richmond.

Top Aussie chocolate with up to 70% savings, so you have no excuse for being out of chocolate.

You get the best in factory seconds too, delights such as chocolate truffles, hazelnut praline, coconut rough, strawberry parfait, peanut brittle, pineapple sorbet, cafe latte, cherry brandy, French nougat, vanilla caramel, caramel deluxe, hazel-nut surprise, Turkish delight.

Shall I go on? Or have you left the room already…….

Like to shout me a cold beer?
